    3. Attach the device to your faucet.

Faucet Filters

  • Should I soak the filter before use?

    Before first use, run cold water for 5 minutes in a filtered position. During filter flush, it is normal to see cloudy water and hear the sound of water pushing air out of the filter cartridge. Flushing removes any loose materials, which is normal. Prior to each use, run cold water for 5 seconds in a filtered position to activate the filter.

  • Can I run hot water through the filter?

    Never run hot water through the filter. Do not use the water above 100˚F/38˚C as this may alter the filter. Use cold water only.

  • How do I install or replace a filter?

    To install or replace the filter, remove the device from your faucet by unscrewing the threaded mounting nut.

    1. Twist back cover off
    2. Insert filter into the device (Don’t worry, the filter will fit loosely)
    3. Replace back cover
    After each new filter cartridge is installed, run cold water for 5 minutes to flush it.

    Change your filter every three months for best performance.

  • How many contaiminants does my filter reduce?

    PUR faucet mount systems are certified by NSF International to reduce 72 contaminants and substances, including sediment, chlorine (taste and odor) and its by-products, which is more than any other brand.  Please refer to your Owner's Manual for a full list of contaminants removed.

  • What's the difference between white basic and blue MineralClear filters?

    The Classic and Basic faucet filtration systems come with a white basic filter. The Advanced, Advanced Plus and Ultimate faucet filtration systems come with the blue MineralClear® filter.

  • How do I know when to replace the filter?

    To ensure maximum contaminant removal, to replace your PUR filter after 100 gallons of use or every 3 months. If your CleanSensor™ flashes red, it’s time for a new filter.

  • What do I do if I notice my faucet system is filtering slowly?

    When your faucet system filter is near end of life, the water will run slower in the filtered position.  Replace your filter every three months to ensure contaminant removal is at the certified levels.

  • How do I recycle my used PUR products?

    We are currently working on implementing a recycling program for our PUR customers.  Please continue to check this section as we'll provide an update once details become available.

  • What do I do if my filter light is not resetting or is out?

    Please review the below instructions and click here for a video on how to reset the filter light on your faucet mount.

    Vertical Faucet Mounts
    1. Remove filter and replace back into unit.
    2. Make sure the reset button is not stuck in / try manually resetting button inside canister with finger.
    3. The unit will continue to function as long as you continue to change your filter every 3 months (100 gallons.)

    Horizontal Faucet Mounts
    1. Remove filter and place back into unit.
    2. Remove filter and place aside. Using a dry cloth, thoroughly wipe threadings on cap and unit. Reinstall filter.
    3. The unit will continue to function as long as you continue to change your filter every 3 months (100 gallons.)

    For the following models:  PFM100B,PFM150W,PFM200B,PFM300W,PFM350V,PFM400HBB, PFM400H,PFM400HC, PFM450S, PFM800HX
    1 Remove filter and place back into unit.
    2Push reset button in for 3 seconds until all 3 lights flash, then release.
    3 Make sure reset button is not stuck in. If reset button is stuck in, pull up on button so it springs back into place.

  • How does the CleanSensor™ Monitor work?

    Indicates filter status and guarantees you will always have safer and healthier filtered drinking water. The green light will flash 6 times as you begin to use the filter. Replacement of the filter cartridge resets the light.  Filter change light changes color depending on how long filter has been in use or how much water has been filtered. Filter will reach end of life at 100+ gallons or 90+ days.  The filter change light contains a non-replaceable battery. The battery will eventually stop working but the filter is still functional.

  • How do I clean my faucet system?

    Clean the exterior of the faucet mount housing with a damp sponge or soft cloth. A mild dishwashing liquid may also be used. Using anything else to clean your faucet mount could result in damage to the unit.

  • How do I know when it is time to replace my faucet filter?

    To ensure maximum contaminant removal, to replace your PUR filter after 100 gallons of use or every 3 months. If your CleanSensor™ flashes red, it’s time for a new filter.

  • How do I register my PUR faucet system for warranty?

  • How do I assemble my unit?

    1. Soak the filter in cold water for 15 minutes.
    2. Hand wash pitcher, lid, pour tray and removable filter cover (select models only) with mild, soapy water. Rinse well.
    3. Hold filter under cold running tap water for 10 seconds. Allow excess to drain.
    4. Attach removable filter cover (select models only). Twist counterclockwise to lock.
    5. Insert the filter into the pour tray and push down and twist clockwise to lock.

  • How do I install or replace a filter?

  • Should I soak the filter before use?

    Yes. Pitcher filters need to be soaked in cold water for 15 minutes and then held under cold running water for 10 seconds.

  • Can I run hot water through the filter?

    Use cold water only. Do not use with water above 82°F/28°C as this may damage the filter. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe, or of unknown quality, without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Individuals requiring water of a certain microbiological purity should consult their physician.

  • How many contaiminants does my filter reduce?

    PUR's filter technology removes 96% of mercury, 95% of certain industrial pollutants and 94% of certain pharmaceuticals.

  • How do I know when to replace the filter?

    If the light on your pitcher is out, hold the reset button down for at least 5 seconds.

     

  • What if the green light on my pitcher isn't flashing after I pour?

    1. Hold the reset button for 5 seconds / release when all 3 lights illuminate.
    2. If normal reset does not work, hold the reset button and continue pressing for 15 seconds until the green LED stops flashing & all the lights turn on.
    3. Repeat reset by holding the reset button for 5 seconds / release when all 3 lights illuminate.

  • What do I do if the lid is falling off my pitcher when pouring?

    Make sure the blue reservoir is inserted correctly. If backwards, rotate 180-degrees. Make sure there is no water in the top reservoir when pouring.

  • How does the CleanSensor Monitor work?

    The CleanSensor™ Monitor is an easy way to see when it’s time to change your filter because it measures the amount of time the filter has been in your pitcher. Be sure to reset your CleanSensor™ Monitor every time you replace your filter.  Filter change light changes color depending on how long filter has been in use or how much water has been filtered.     If your water is filtering slower than usual, remove the filter and shake vigorously until you hear the granules shifting inside. 

  • How do I prevent my water dispenser from leaking?

    If the valve is leaking on your dispenser, be sure nothing is coming in contact with the valve (i.e. refrigerator door) that would accidentally open the valve and let water spill out.  If you still notice a leak in your dispenser, please contact Consumer Relations at [email protected]

    If you notice unfiltered water is leaking into the filtered water reservoir, check to be sure that the filter has been twisted firmly into place.  If unfiltered water is leaking out of the pour tray when you tip the pitcher over to pour, completely drain the pour tray before pouring filtered water out of the pitcher to prevent unfiltered water from mixing with the filtered water. 

  • How long will the dispenser filter last?

    PUR Pitcher/Dispenser filters should be replaced every 1-2 months/40 gallons.
