Changing your water filter regularly is crucial when it comes to removing contaminants, because a clean filter means clean water. It is recommended that pitcher filters be replaced every 40 gallons (or every two months) to maintain maximum contaminant removal.

PUR pitcher filters provide up to 40 gallons of clean, refreshing water or last for up to 2 months, whichever comes first. The Filter Light let's you know when it’s time to change your filter by measuring the amount of time the filter has been in your pitcher. The light will flash 6 times after water is poured from the pitcher and the Light will remain off until the next time you pour water from the pitcher. Be sure to reset your Filter Light every time you replace your filter. Green light = Filter is working, Yellow light = Change Filter Soon and Red Light = Change Filter Now..

Yes, pitcher filters need to be soaked in cold water for 15 minutes and then held under cold running tap water for 10 seconds.

Hand wash with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly as needed. 

This may occur if bubbles or air pockets have become trapped in your filter. To help remedy this, we recommend removing the filter from your pitcher, then holding the filter upside down at a slight angle and shaking it for 5-6 seconds before returning it to the upright position. You should hear the carbon particles inside moving. This should compact the contents of the filter and eliminate any air pockets trapped within, which can prohibit water flow.  This should restore full performance to your filter.

Running hot water through the filter will decrease the effectiveness of the filter.
