  • Question: How do I recycle my used PUR products?

    Answer: We are currently working on implementing a recycling program for our PUR customers. Please continue to check this section as we will provide an update once details become available. If you have a pitcher with a Filter Change Light, please do not dispose of the non-replaceable battery in a landfill, rather check local recycling.

  • Question: How do I assemble my PUR unit?

    Answer:

    1. See our short 'how to' guide for assembly.
    2. Remove stay tight lid. Some models are designed with a locking tab and thumb hold located on the top of the handle. Start by peeling up this tab to release the lock (if applicable) and remove lid.
    3. Wash pitcher. If dishwashing, flip over lid to remove filter change light (if applicable) by pressing the tab and lifting out the light. Remove dispenser spigot (if applicable). Dishwash or hand wash pitcher, lid, and tray (See Product Care).

    5. Insert filter into tray, push down, twist clockwise and align with lines in pour tray to lock. If you have done this prior to putting the tray in the pitcher, you can firmly hit the bottom of the filter to assure it is in place.
    6. Replace tray and fill. The tray only goes in one way. Line up the tab with the handle and the nubs with the pour spout.
    7. Fill tray with COLD WATER. NEVER run hot water through the filter as it will damage the filter.
    8. Replace Filter Change Light (select models) Flip over lid. Tilt light housing to fit under groove near spout. Press down to lock in place. How to Remove and Replace the PUR Pitcher Filter Change Light for Dishwashing.
    9. Replace lid. Press into place. Secure locking tab (select models).
    10. Activate Filter Change Light (select models) to tell you when it's time to change your filter. Be sure to reset your filter change light every time you replace your filter.
      a. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.
      b. Light will flash green.

    Once you begin using the pitcher/dispenser, appropriate light will flash after water is poured. The light will change from green (filter is working), to yellow (change filter soon) and then to red (change filter now), when it is time to change your filter. Change your filter when the light turns red. Then, reset again by pressing and holding the reset button for 5 seconds.

  • Question: What do I do if the light on my pitcher is out?

    Answer: If the light on your pitcher is out, hold the reset button down for 5+ seconds. If it still does not light up, please contact [email protected].

  • Question: What if the green light on my pitcher isn't flashing after I pour?

    Answer:

    • Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds / release when all 3 lights illuminate.
    • If normal reset does not work, hold the reset button and continue pressing for 15 seconds until the green LED stops flashing & all the lights turn on.
    • Repeat reset by holding the reset button for 5 seconds / release when all 3 lights illuminate.
  • Question: What do I do if the lid is falling off my pitcher when pouring?

    Answer: Make sure the reservoir tray is inserted correctly. If backwards, rotate 180-degrees. Make sure the lid is securely pressed into place. If your pitcher has a tab, press to lock firmly into place.

  • Question: Can I pour water out of the pitcher if there is water still in the pour tray?

    Answer: Yes, if there is some water in the pour tray, but not full, you can pour water out of the pitcher without spilling.

  • Question: How to install or replace a filter?

    Answer: Insert the filter into the tray. Push down and twist clockwise to lock. If you have done this prior to putting the tray in the pitcher, you can firmly hit the bottom of the filter to assure it is in place.

  • Question: Should I soak the filter before use?

    Answer:

    Yes, if you have a PUR PLUS Lead Reducing Pitcher Filter. PUR PLUS Pitcher filters need to be soaked in cold water for 15 minutes and then held under cold running water for 10 seconds.

    If you have a PUR Pitcher Filter, the filter needs to be rinsed under cold running water for 10+ seconds. These filters do not need to soak.

  • Question: Can I run hot water through the filter?

    Answer: Use cold water only. Do not use with water above 82°F/28°C as this may damage the filter. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe, or of unknown quality, without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Individuals requiring water of a certain microbiological purity should consult their physician.

  • Question: How many contaminants does my filter reduce?

    Answer: PUR's Filtration Systems are certified by NSF and/or WQA for their contamination reduction. For a complete list of contaminants, see the Performance Data Sheet in your instruction manual.*

  • Question: How does the Filter Change Light work?

    Answer:

    The Filter Change Light is an easy way to see when it is time to change your filter. Your light will change from green to yellow, and from yellow to red. This will inform you that your filter has reached the end of life at approximately 40+ gallons over 2 months of time.

    When you replace your filter every 2 months or as your filter change light indicates, be sure it's PUR. PUR's Filtration Systems are certified by NSF and/or WQA for their contamination reduction to assure you are drinking cleaner water.* Be cautious of 'off-brand' filters. They are not tested or certified to filter like PUR.

    Reset your Filter Change Light every time you replace your filter. To reset, press and hold the Filter Change Light for 5+ seconds.

                The filter change light contains a non-replaceable battery.
                The battery will eventually stop working but the filter is still functional.

  • Question: How do I clean my pitcher or dispenser?

    Answer: Dishwash or hand wash pitcher, lid, pour tray and removable filter cover (select models only) with mild soapy water. Rinse well. Remove Filter Change Light Before Washing (select models).   • Question: How do I remove my Filter Change Light?

    Answer:

    Pitchers - To remove filter change light, flip over lid, press the tab and lift out the light. See video for details: How to Remove and Replace the PUR Pitcher Filter Change Light for Dishwashing. To reinstall, Replace Filter Change Light (select models) Flip over lid. Tilt light housing to fit under groove near spout. Press down to lock in place.

    30 Cup Dispenser - Using the horseshoe shaped tool on the underside of the dispenser. Insert tool into the two slots on the underside of the spigot, the spigot will then pop out of place. Gently wash spigot by hand, DO NOT submerge it in water and replace once dry.

  • Question: How do I know when to replace the filter?

    Answer: After 2 months or when your Filter Change Light is flashing red (select models), it is time to replace your filter.
