New Opportunities:

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Pat Wood III said he would leave the commission at the conclusion of his term of office June 30. Wood is the longest-serving appointee of George W. Bush, who as governor of Texas in 1995 appointed him to the Texas PUC.

Robert Gleitz has been named general manager of GE Energy's wind segment, reporting to Mark Little, vice president-Power Generation for GE Energy. He has served as director of GE Energy's European projects group, as commercial director supporting sales and commercial operations for GE, and more recently as managing director of GE Energy Products Europe.

Great Plains Energy named Terry Bassham as executive vice president and CFO. Bassham will succeed Andrea Bielsker, who plans to leave the company. Bassham joins Great Plains Energy from El Paso Electric, where he is executive vice president, and chief financial and administrative officer.

Charles Fisher, former Illinois Commerce Commission director, will lead James Lee Witt Associates' Utility and Critical Infrastructure Practice.

FirstEnergy Corp. announced that Daniel V. Steen, formerly director, environmental, has been promoted to vice president, environmental, effective March 6, reporting to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Richard R. Grigg.

Charles E. Bayless has been named president of the West Virginia University Institute of Technology effective April 4. A 1968 Tech graduate, Bayless has headed major utilities from New Hampshire to Arizona.

Shuffle Board:

The board of directors of Cleco Corp. said it would name Michael H. Madison CEO and president of the corporation at its May 5 meeting. Madison, who had been serving as president and COO of Cleco Power LLC, will succeed David M. Eppler, who announced in late 2004 his intention to retire by midyear. The board also will vote on making Madison a director. Madison joined Cleco in October 2003 when he was named head of Cleco Power. Madison had previously served as state president of the Louisiana/Arkansas region for AEP.

FPL Group, Inc. said Hansel E. Tookes II and Rudy E. Schupp were elected to the company's board of directors. Tookes, 57, retired from Raytheon Company in December 2002. He joined Raytheon in 1999 and served as president of Raytheon International, chairman and CEO of Raytheon Aircraft, and executive vice president of Raytheon Co. Schupp, 54, is president, CEO and a director of 1st United Bank.

APX announced the election of Kurt E. Yeager to its board of directors. Yeager is the immediate past president and CEO of the Electric Power Research Institute.

Enbridge Inc. announced that David A. Arledge would become chair of the Enbridge board of directors. He succeeds Donald J. Taylor who is retiring.

Richard M. Gabrys, a former vice chairman of Deloitte & Touche's U.S. Global Strategic Client Group, and Philip R. Lochner Jr., a former member of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, have been nominated to serve on CMS Energy's board of directors.

Resigned:

Electric Power Supply Association President Lynne H. Church left the association, according to a statement from the organization.

Retired:

Edison International announced that Bryant C. Danner would retire June 30, 2005, as the company's executive vice president and general counsel. He joined the company in 1992.
