The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners has elected Susan F. Clark, commissioner of the Florida Public Service Commission, as its representative on the North American Electric Reliability Council. Clark has served as Florida's commissioner since 1991. Commissioner of the North Carolina Utilities Commission, Allyson K. Duncan, also was elected to serve as a NARUC representative. Duncan will represent NARUC on the advisory council to the board of directors of EPRI.
Tony A. Prophet, former new business development v.p. for AlliedSignal Aerospace Equipment Systems, was promoted to president of AlliedSignal Inc.'s newest subsidiary, AlliedSignal Power Systems Inc. Prophet's responsibilities will include combining aerospace and automotive technologies in turbogeneration systems.
The MGE board of directors has promoted Peter Waldron from power supply operations and engineering assistant v.p., to power supply operations and engineering v.p. Waldron joined MGE in 1980.
Pamela Lesh was hired by ConnexT as its strategic relationships v.p. Lesh joins ConnexT from Portland General Electric where she was regulatory affairs v.p.
Several people were elected to the board of the Nuclear Energy Institute. Among those elected: William H. Timbers, United States Enrichment Corp., president/CEO; Howard E. Cosgrove, Delmarva Power & Light Co., chair, president/CEO; and Charles W. Pryor Jr., Westinghouse Electric Corp., energy systems president. The following were elected to the executive committees: William Cavanaugh III, Carolina Power & Light, president/CEO; William F. Hecht, Pennsylvania Power & Light Co., chair/president/CEO; Richard Snell, Pinnacle West Capital Corp., chair/ president/CEO; and Steven R. Specker, GE Nuclear Energy, president. James J. Howard, chair and CEO of Northern States Power Co., will serve as NEI chair.
Erle Nye, Texas Utilities president and chief executive, replaced Jerry Farrington as company chair. Nye will serve as both TU's chair and CEO. Nye also was elected chair of the North American Electric
Reliability Council and serves on the boards of NEI and EEI.
Virginia Power has selected Norman Askew, CEO of Britain's East Midlands Electricity, as its president and CEO. Robert Davies, former East Midland finance director, will replace Askew as CEO.
Ernest H. Maas was promoted from engineering assistant v.p. to operations v.p. at Edison Sault Electric Co. Maas joined Edison Sault in 1984.
Cinergy elected William J. Grealis as its corporate development and strategic planning v.p. Donald B. Ingle Jr. replaces him as acting president of Cinergy's Energy Services business unit. Grealis joined Cinergy in 1995 as its gas operations president.
Zack T. Pate, president and CEO of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, will replace Remy Carle as chair of the World Association of Nuclear Operators. Also at WANO, O. Allan Kupics, Ontario Hydro president/CEO has succeeded Erik Pozdyshev as president.
MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. Chair Russell E. Christiansen has retired. Stanley J. Bright, president and CEO, will add Christiansen's responsibilities to his daily duties. Christiansen joined MidAmerican in 1959. He will continue to serve as a company director.
Reorganization at PECO Energy Co. has prompted the promotions of several executives. Gregory A. Cucchi, formerly corporate planning and development v.p. has become senior v.p. of PECO Energy Ventures. Katherine C. Holland, who joined PECO in 1994, was promoted from information systems v.p. to corporate services senior v.p. Gregory N. Dudkin, former power delivery regional director, has become power delivery v.p. Dudkin joined PECO in 1979.
Robert L. Schain was elected president and CEO of Regulatory Research Associates Inc., succeeding Dorothy French, who had been president since 1992.
Sharon Nelson, chair of the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, has resigned. Nelson was appointed chair in 1985 and was reappointed in 1991. She will act as chair until a replacement is found.
